Juilee Decker, Ph.D.

 

Juilee Decker is an associate professor of Museum Studies at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). She earned a BA as a double major in art history and Russian studies from Wittenberg University; an MA in art history and museum studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and a Ph.D. from the Joint Program in Art History at Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Prior to joinng the faculty at RIT in the fall 2014, Decker taught courses in art history, museum studies, and curatorial practice for ten years at Georgetown College (Georgetown, KY). 

 

Professor Decker’s research interests and curation include public art, commemoration, and memory as well as the social application of museum informatics. Since 2008, she has served as editor of Collections: A Journal for Museum and Archives Professionals, a peer-reviewed journal published by Rowman & Littlefield (published through 2014 by AltaMira Press). In 2015, Professor Decker edited a four-volume series entitled Innovative Approaches for Museums (Rowman & Littlefield). See here. Decker is currently at work revising the seminal museum studies text, Museums in Motion, forthcoming from Rowman & Littlefield in 2016-17.
